The Goal of each one of these Core Progression

Micro Loop

The layer at the bottom of the progression hierarchy. It operates within the context of the current ongoing play session of a specific game mode.

Happening in the Plot, it’s the actions done the more frequently, the core of the gameplay, the means to reach goal. The Focus on this loop is to:

  • Entertain

  • Interactivity / Replayability

  • Fun to play / use

  • Short term retention

Macro Loop

The layer in the middle of the progression hierarchy. It operates within the context of a specific game mode and only affects and manages this specific game mode.

This is where the Players actions from the Micro Loop create a permanent progression system that can be built upon. The Goal of this Loop is to create:

  • Gratification

  • Reward system / Progress

  • Fun to be recognized

  • Mid term retention

Meta Loop

The layer at the top of the progression hierarchy. It operates at the player's profile, account ect...

The meta progression is the modular approach to creating an of developing long term goals. Here we create a player's own identity through both collections and achievements. The objective of this Loop is to:

  • Motivate

  • Gamification / Achievement

  • Fun to stay

  • Long term retention
